Reuse. Recycle. Compost.

Be part of the solution, with our consistent sustainability concept.

Our products are thought through down to the finest details and lovingly, sustainably and carefully packaged. When it comes to food products, it is truly challenging to package them in a way that is both food-safe and environmentally friendly. All of our packaging is biodegradable* or reusable before being recycled.

The following items are biodegradable:

  • Our food-safe stand-up and refill pouches
  • Our water bottles
  • Our tissue paper

The following items are reusable and recyclable:

  • Our Miron glass packaging
  • Our tin boxes
  • Our FSC-certified cardboard boxes (made of up to 80% recycled pulp and up to 20% from wood from sustainably managed forests)

Our biodegradable packaging*

Our stand-up pouch is biodegradable, making it the ideal ecological packaging. We use the large version for our popular porridge and powdered products – the small version is used for individual portions. We also use both for your refills.

We worked together closely with the Swiss Food Research innovation network to develop a compostable, food-safe stand-up pouch for our BE THE CHANGE products. We also supply these pioneering pouches to other companies – from small start-ups to large-scale industry players.

Our tissue paper is also biodegradable. You can reuse it before putting it in the compost or the organic waste bin, where it will be returned to the natural cycle.

Our biodegradable* water bottle

We are especially proud of our ecological water bottle – it is also biodegradable, even the lid. The only part that is not fully biodegradable is the mouthpiece, and we’re currently working on that.

Our water bottle is full of clever details. It has an extra large opening to make it easier to fill. We also offer different mouthpieces for different uses. These can be ordered separately.

Our biodegradable* water bottle is:

  • 100% made of sugar cane fibres
  • 100% BPA-free and free of other harmful substances
  • 100% plasticiser-free
  • 100% free of raw materials from food resources
  • Odourless and tasteless
  • Dishwasher-safe
  • Perfect for the office, uni, sports and leisure

* These materials are biodegradable. If you have your own composting system, you can simply compost them yourself there. They will return to 100% soil. If you want to compost these items in the public green waste collection, this may be a bit more complicated because individual municipalities may have different regulations. The rules about how much waste can go into these bins are extremely strict. Some prefer to be extra careful and therefore do not allow biodegradable packaging and green waste bags in the bins. Find out what rules apply where you live.

Our reusable and recyclable Miron glass packaging

When we chose our Miron glass and cardboard packaging, we had reusability in mind. After all, you can reuse containers for quite a long time before you recycle them. We use high-quality, dark purple Miron glass containers to protect the contents from light (UVA rays) and other influences. They not only look elegant, but also help to preserve the valuable nutrients in our products.

You can order the lids separately in case they don’t last as long as the glass containers themselves. And, if you run out of a product, you don’t need to order a new container: you can simply refill your glass container with one of our biodegradable refill pouches.

Our reusable and recyclable tin boxes

Our tin boxes are practically indestructible as well. They can always be refilled, and last for years if not decades. Once they have reached the end of their lifespans, you can simply recycle them.

To make sure that you always know which BE THE CHANGE product you’re keeping in which tin box:

  • Tear out the paper label along the perforations.
  • Attach the product description to the front of the box with the small BE THE CHANGE magnet. This magnet is attached to the inside of the lid.

Our recyclable, FSC-certified cardboard boxes

Our FSC-certified cardboard boxes are made of up to 80% recycled pulp and up to 20% from wood from sustainably managed forests. You can reuse the boxes in a number of ways before you recycle them.

Our sustainable wooden clips

When you open one of our pouches, it is important that you can close it again simply and securely. That’s why we provide you with our attractive, practical wooden clips free of charge. They are made of Swiss limewood and are carefully crafted by hand with a great deal of dedication by the members of the social-therapeutic community of the Stiftung Rüttihubelbad.
