«Today, one thing is for sure: I only want to put food into my body that offers me added value and nourishes me in the best way possible.»

BE THE CHANGE is an extension of Swiss Health & Nutrition AG, a young, pioneering, independent Swiss company for natural foods and nutritional supplements.

As a company, we work in all areas with the highest respect for and in harmony with our environment, man and nature. Since actions are stronger than words, we make them as transparent as possible and have ourselves certified for our commitments.

Letter from the founder

Sven Altorfer – founder, CEO and food inventor explains

As the developer and producer of BE THE CHANGE products, I get to combine my personal and professional passions: I innovate, formulate, create and enjoy.

I create effective, healthy products based on the biochemical processes of our bodies – and the findings of nutritional science. Whenever possible, I source my raw materials from organic farms located in Switzerland. I focus on what nature offers us and process my products as little as possible in order to protect and preserve nutrients. I never use artificial conservatives and I make sure to choose every ingredient carefully.

The growing demand for food due to the ever-increasing global population presents us with a number of challenges, as do issues such as (plastic) waste. For this reason, I am closely involved in the production of raw materials, including in the process of manufacturing protein concentrates and isolates. At the same time, researching and generating additional sources of nutrients that are biochemically compatible with the human body is one of my main goals. For example, I am currently looking for healthy, natural alternatives to sugar and sweeteners.

As a member of innovation networks, I work on new, sustainable food sources that take into account the entire cycle of a foodstuff or raw material. Accordingly, we work together in these networks to research and create new raw materials that are good for humans and sustainable in terms of agriculture or can be useful to plant in terms of biodiversity. We also keep transport distances as short as possible. Furthermore, it is crucial that the raw materials undergo as little processing as possible during food production. Our goal is also to package food and beverages in a way that is as environmentally friendly as possible. That is why we have developed stand-up pouches that are food safe and can be composted at home. We now supply our pouches to other small companies, as well as to large-scale industrial firms.

The quality of my products is the result of decades of experience that I have acquired not only through my professional life, by working in the field of food and nutrition from a young age, but also through my experiences with my own health and with sports and exercise. I started my professional career by training to be a chef, followed by attending hotel management school, further training and professional development in various sectors of the food and beverage industry, food technology and the wine industry, and by my role as the CEO of different companies. Another important milestone in my life was an illness which immediately taught me what it means to be worried about your body. The years after this illness were groundbreaking for me; they resulted in a whole new concept of health and improved athletic performance in an Ironman Triathlon, and eventually meant an overall positive shift.

Eating, being healthy, exercising – for me, nutrition is so much more than just a means to an end. For me, food is something exquisite, something to be savoured, and, in the best case, a firework for the senses.
