Organic Energy Spread

Profile: Our Energy Spread is the first Swiss energy gel made of 100% organic ingredients: almond butter, honey, lemon juice, rock salt, and a pinch of cinnamon.

We’ve developed a recipe to achieve a carbohydrate-fat-protein ratio of 33-55-12, which is easy on the pancreas due to its relatively low glycemic response. Typically, gels have relied on fructose and glucose, sugars that, in this case, are so called mono-substances—usually cheap byproducts of industry.

Although they deliver quick energy, they spike blood sugar and also cause it to come crashing down, with an attendant loss of energy. This process taxes the pancreas unnecessarily, which can become fatigued if overused long-term, even leading to type 2 diabetes.

Natural matrix instead of mono-substance

By contrast, sugar variants found in the natural matrix of honey are well tolerated and provide energy quickly in an optimal carbohydrate-fat-protein mix like the Energy Spread, without stressing the pancreas. It’s part of what makes our spread so well tolerated—the best energy delivery system for regular use.

The organic almond butter and lemon juice have a positive, alkalizing effect on natural over-acidification caused by energy-rich carbohydrates. This is the optimal energy source for every activity. Our Energy Spread is also gluten-free and suitable for people with lactose intolerance.

I recommend the following method: Take 1 Energy Spread and wash down with a little water, as desired, 20 minutes before physical exertion. During physical exertion: 1 Energy Spread every 20-30 minutes. For extended physical activity, I recommend combining it with our ENDURANCE DRINK.

Organic almond butter

Almond butter is one of the healthiest nut butters, containing more vitamin E and iron than peanut butter. Almonds prevent cardiovascular disease and have a positive effect on insulin insensitivity. We use almond butter in the Energy Spread as a prime power source.

Organic honey

The sugar compounds in honey are less stressful for metabolism than conventional sugar: They don’t jerk around blood-sugar levels and therefore minimize that «hangry» feeling.

Honey has been important to humans for millennia. It’s widespread and popular as a household remedy. It is said to have anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and anti-allergic affects. Honey is also purported to strengthen the immune and cardiovascular systems. We use honey in the Energy Spread as a prime power source.

Organic lemon juice

Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods around. They help stabilize the pH of your body (and just about any food). The lemon’s high potassium content supports neurological function, boosting your brain and the general wellbeing of your nervous system.

In addition, lemon has a positive effect on blood pressure and on measurable physiological stress levels, which are often associated with a lack of potassium. We use lemon juice in the Energy Spread to stabilize the pH, which allows us to avoid preservatives.

Rock salt

This is a natural salt that occurs hundreds of feet below the Earth’s surface. It is untouched by environmental influences and contains a wide array of natural minerals and trace elements, including iodine. This is because it ultimately comes from the sea, from waters that dried up millions of years ago.

We use rock salt because it doesn’t contain microplastics and doesn’t need to be cleaned or processed many times over and it supports the electrolyte supply.

Organic cinnamon

Cinnamon is an ideal spice for wholesome diets because of its blood-sugar regulating effect. High blood sugar levels can lead to increased body fat. Cinnamon helps prevent fat storage by lowering blood sugar levels and boosting carbohydrate metabolism.
